Overview
5-Amino-1MQ is a small molecule rather than a peptide, but it is sold and discussed alongside metabolic peptides so it is documented here. It inhibits nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), an enzyme that is overexpressed in the adipose tissue of obese individuals.
The mechanistic story is coherent. NNMT consumes nicotinamide, a NAD+ precursor. Inhibiting it should raise cellular NAD+ and increase the availability of methyl donors, which in rodent studies translated to reduced fat-cell size and improved metabolic markers without changing food intake.
The gap between that story and human evidence is total. There are no published human clinical trials. Everything claimed about it in humans is extrapolation from mouse adipocyte work.

- Raises intracellular NAD+ and SAM (S-adenosylmethionine) availability.
